 Bird Control

Using birds of prey as a method of clearing avian pests such as seagulls and rooks from places where they make themselves a nuisance is fast becoming a popular method of bird control.

They are used at airports to stop seagulls congregating on the runway, and causing accidents.

City centres to protect buildings of architectural interest from the droppings of pigeons etc.

Landfill sites to stop the spread of diseases such as tuberculosis and salmonella.

Farms to stop expensive crop damage.

Birds of prey are a deterrent to pest birds. Rather than killing the pest this method of bird control is seen as a ‘green’ way of solving the problem.

A trained falconer and his team of birds simply arrive at the site and fly the birds. As soon as the pest birds see the falcons or hawks in the sky they move on to less dangerous areas.
